Galilee Baptist Church San Angelo
I had the amazing opportunity to work with the choir at the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. These wonderful singers kindly agreed to learn some songs I’ve written in a gospel style. I could only take those songs so far, and the changes and ideas they brought to the music was inspiring.
I met these folks last April through my friends Sally and Craig Meyers when I was working in San Angelo. We went to hear a rehearsal, and I was completely filled with the spirit of their music. I got inspired over the next couple of months and wrote and rewrote some songs in that style. When I knew I was going to be returning to San Angelo, I asked whether they might consider learning and singing the songs. They agreed, and their enthusiasm was a blessing.
After some rehearsal and exchange of ideas I was able to record each song in a rough version. I am hopeful that I can return and we can continue this collaboration. For now, here are the songs. I expect them to continue to change.
I am so grateful to the choir at the church and to Pastor Pope, and Sally and Craig, for all their work to make this collaboration possible. It’s like a dream come true to hear these pieces sung this way.
The songs include: No Way to the Mountain. Love’s Gonna Wake Me In the Morning. Room For More Love. Wander Through the Wilderness.

Wonderful songs, wonderful singing, wonderful spirit! Thanks for sharing Stuart :-)
Absolutely uplifting on this most special of days honoring Dr. King! Thanks for posting, Stuart!
Life continues to open new and wonderful pathways for musical connection. It makes perfect sense, somehow, that your songs would transpose so seamlessly to Gospel repertoire, because they come from the heart and are filled with love.
