As a follow-up to my recent piece on research, and in particular the claims we make about it, I’ve received a number of comments and links. For those interested in this topic (and I confess I quickly get overwhelmed by my own fascination with these ideas and the huge quantity of information out there) here are some relevant links.

Monty Harper brought this web site to my attention. Great searching possibilities. http://www.artsedsearch.org/
This website surveys what recent education research tells us, and what it doesn’t. I like this site a lot. It’s a bit like reading scientific stories, (but with lots of big words.) http://ies.ed.gov/ncee/wwc/
On Gari Stein’s site there is a fantastic collection of research. Wish I had time to read it all, but it’s wonderful to have so much in one spot. http://little-folks-music.com/research-tells-us.htm
And perhaps the most important research for any musician – the importance of playing air guitar for improving musically.
I know I’ll be more careful with what I say about “research.” It’s think it’s better to be careful. Unless some research proves me wrong.
I heard from a friend who heard from their child that their teacher learned at a conference from someone who said they know Stuart Stotts that there’s research showing Stuart knows what he’s talking about. But they didn’t cite the source.
