Singing all over the world was written by Stuart and Tom Pease and recorded on their “Everybody Started Out Small” CD. They’ve also used it as a writing tool for countless classrooms to create their own verses. Some of those verses are included below.

Since before we can remember

we’ve gathered round the fire
Bb C F Bb
like the sparks into the dark
Gm C
our voices rising higher

Singing all over the world tonight

singing all over the world
F Bb F C
you and me and a whole lot of light

singing all over the world tonight

singing all over the world
In an old saugaro cactus
hoots a small elf owl
canyon wren
song descends
and a coyote starts to howl
In an old church basement
piano plays a hymn
part by part the voices start
stronger as they blend
he’s had a hard day working
seemed like everything went sour
he regains his wits as he scrubs his pits
and bellows in the shower
since romeo and juliet’s
romantic escapades
tender tunes and magic moons
make wistful serenades
she wakes up from a nightmare
and cries in her father’s arms
but with a lullaby and a gentle sigh
she dreams off far from harm
Sosa and McGwire
reaching for the wall
but before they swing we rise and sing
and the umpire says “play ball.”
with candles and best wishes
surrounded by our friends
we celebrate by eating cake
and sing that song again
dad was rushing madly round the house
he’d overslept an hour
he gained his wits as he scrubbed his pits
and bellowed in the shower
here we are together
friends and family round
it’s a healing thing when we sing
we’ve laughed and sung, now we’re done
take home what you have found.
We march for peace and justice
With our drumming and our chants.
In NYC and Germany
Australia Spain and France
All around this planet
Our voices rise in song
When times are dire
We’ll be inspired
Music makes us strong.
