How Do I Know was written by Stuart and Tom Pease and recorded on their “Everybody Started Out Small” CD. They’ve also used it as a writing tool for countless classrooms to create their own verses. Some of those verses are included below.

We ate him up from his toe to his head.
Penguins waddle along the way.
Dad stands by the eggs all day.
You might think it’s kind of rude;
Mom throws up for the baby’s food.
Caterpillars hatch from eggs
They crawl around on many legs
After metamorphosis
You can get a butterfly kiss
Dr Martin Luther King
Had a message he would bring
He changed the world for you and me
With justice peace and liberty
You can get your books for free.
Over at the library
Almost anything you need
There’s a book that you can read.
